Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 9, 2026
Speedo Pro ("the app", "we", "us") is a speedometer and vehicle dashboard app for Android. This policy explains what data the app uses and what happens to it.
The short version: Speedo works on your device. We have no servers and no accounts, and we do not collect or sell personal data. Data leaves your phone in only two cases: requests for map images when you view a trip map, and — in the free version only — Google's ad service, when the app fetches or shows an optional rewarded ad (see Advertising). Trips you record are stored only on your phone. Premium Unlock owners never load ads.
Data the app uses
The app processes the following data on your device only, to display live readings on screen and, only when you record a trip, to save that trip on your phone:
Location (GPS)
Used to calculate and display your current speed, heading, altitude, and coordinates. Live readings are processed in real time and are not transmitted anywhere.
Trip recording (optional). When you tap START TRIP, the app records your route (positions, times, speed and altitude) until you tap STOP, including while the app is in the background or the screen is off; a notification is shown the whole time (if you have turned notifications off, Android still lists the app as running). Recorded trips are stored only on your phone, in the app's private storage, and may be included in your device's own Android backup if you have it enabled. They are never uploaded by the app. A trip leaves your phone only when you choose EXPORT GPX and pick where to send the file. Deleting a trip in MY TRIPS, or uninstalling the app, removes it.
Location access is requested only while you use the app; the app does not request background location permission.
Camera
Used only when you open the CAM dashboard, which estimates speed visually using Google ARCore and on-device object detection (Google ML Kit). Camera frames are processed on the device in real time. No images or video are recorded, saved, or transmitted. The camera permission is requested only when you open the CAM tab; all other dashboards work without it.
Physical activity (step counter)
The optional ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION permission is used only to read the device's hardware step counter and display a step count on the WALK dashboard. Step counts are processed on the device and never stored or transmitted. The app works fully if you deny this permission.
Device sensors
Barometer, compass, and motion sensors may be read to display altitude, heading, and related values. Sensor data is processed in real time and not stored.
Settings
Your preferences (units, dashboard layout, custom dial configuration) are stored locally on your device and never leave it. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
Purchases
The app offers a one-time in-app purchase ("Premium Unlock") processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details. Google's handling of your payment information is governed by the Google Play Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy. The app checks your purchase status with Google Play to unlock premium features; this is the only purchase-related data the app handles, and it is not shared with anyone else.
Advertising (free version)
The free version offers an optional rewarded video ad: watch one ad to the end and every Pro feature unlocks for 5 minutes. Ads are served by Google AdMob. Where the law requires consent, it is collected with Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP).
- When ads load. Only for users who have not bought Premium Unlock, and only while a locked Pro screen or the upgrade sheet is on screen (an ad is fetched in advance so it is ready when you tap WATCH AD), right after an ad finishes (so the next one is ready), and once more about a minute after a failed fetch. After you buy Premium Unlock the app never requests ads again.
- Non-personalized only. The app asks AdMob for non-personalized ads on every request, so ads are not chosen from your activity in other apps or websites. The app does not request the Android advertising ID; on Android 13 and newer that blocks access to it. On older Android versions Google's ads SDK may still read the advertising ID, for example for fraud prevention and frequency capping.
- What Google receives. To deliver an ad, limit how often you see it and prevent fraud, Google receives information such as your IP address (from which approximate location can be inferred), device model and Android version, app and device identifiers, and how you interact with the ad. The app never sends your GPS readings, recorded trips or camera data to AdMob.
- Consent. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the app shows Google's consent form the first time you tap WATCH AD. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → AD PRIVACY OPTIONS.
- Content. Ads are limited to content suitable for general audiences.
Google's use of this information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Third-party services
The app contains no analytics or tracking SDKs. Besides Google AdMob and UMP in the free version (see Advertising), it relies on the following Google components, which run as part of Android / Google Play Services on your device:
- Google Play Services (Fused Location Provider) — supplies location readings
- Google ARCore — powers visual speed estimation in the CAM tab
- Google ML Kit (on-device object detection) — processes camera frames locally
- Google Play Billing — processes the premium purchase
- Google AdMob + User Messaging Platform — optional rewarded ads and ad consent, free version only
These components are provided by Google and operate under the Google Privacy Policy.
Map tiles (OpenFreeMap). When you open a trip map, the app downloads map images and styles from OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org), a free map service built on OpenStreetMap data. Like any web request, this reveals your IP address and which map area is being viewed — for a trip map, the area of that trip — to OpenFreeMap. Your recorded route, speed and times are drawn on the phone and are never sent. No map requests are made unless a map is on screen. See openfreemap.org for their privacy terms. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. Map areas you view are kept in a cache on your phone, up to the size you choose in Settings → MAP CACHE, so they still show without signal; CLEAR MAP CACHE or uninstalling the app removes them.
Data sharing and selling
We do not collect any data, so we have nothing to share or sell. Apart from the map-image requests and, for free users, the ad requests described above, no data is transferred off your device by the app.
Children
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children. It is a utility app with no accounts or social features. Ads in the free version are limited to general-audience content.
Your choices
- Ads are optional: they only play when you tap WATCH AD, and buying Premium Unlock stops all ad requests. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you can change ad consent in Settings → AD PRIVACY OPTIONS.
- You can deny or revoke the location, camera, or physical-activity permissions at any time in Android Settings. Features that depend on a revoked permission will simply be unavailable.
- You can delete any recorded trip from MY TRIPS at any time.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored settings and recorded trips.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.

Terms of Service
Effective date: October 9, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Speedo Pro Android application ("the app", "we", "us"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. The app
Speedo Pro displays vehicle and device telemetry — speed, heading, altitude, coordinates, network status, and related readings — using your device's GPS, camera, and sensors. It is provided for informational and entertainment purposes only.
2. Not a substitute for your vehicle's instruments — safety first
The app is not a certified measuring instrument. Speed and other readings are estimates derived from GPS, camera, and sensor data and may be inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable due to signal conditions, device hardware, weather, terrain, or other factors.
- Always rely on your vehicle's built-in speedometer and instruments for driving decisions.
- You are solely responsible for complying with all traffic laws, including speed limits.
- Do not interact with the app while driving. Set it up before you start moving, or have a passenger operate it. Use of the app while operating a vehicle is at your own risk and must comply with local laws on device use while driving.
3. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Android devices you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and the Google Play Terms of Service. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the app except where such restriction is prohibited by law.
4. Premium Unlock (in-app purchase)
The app offers a one-time in-app purchase ("Premium Unlock") that permanently enables premium dashboards and features on your Google account. The purchase is processed by Google Play Billing under Google's payment terms.
- The price is shown in Google Play before purchase and may vary by region.
- Premium Unlock is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
- The free version may offer optional rewarded ads that unlock Pro features for 5 minutes. A pass is temporary, is not a purchase, and ends early if the device clock changes. The WATCH AD button is unavailable while the device reports driving speed.
- Refunds are handled through Google Play according to Google Play's refund policy.
- Restoring the purchase on a new device requires the same Google account.
5. Permissions
The app requests location, camera, and physical-activity permissions to provide its features. Granting them is optional; features that depend on a denied permission will be unavailable. See the Privacy Policy for details on how this data is handled.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the app:
- in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations;
- to attempt to gain unauthorized access to, interfere with, or disrupt the app;
- to misrepresent the app's readings as certified measurements (e.g., in legal or regulatory contexts).
7. Disclaimer of warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT READINGS WILL BE ACCURATE.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP — INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY DAMAGES, FINES, OR PENALTIES ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON THE APP'S READINGS WHILE OPERATING A VEHICLE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
9. Changes to the app and these Terms
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the app or any feature at any time. We may update these Terms; the updated version will be posted with a new effective date, and continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
10. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your license if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. Sections 7, 8, and 11 survive termination.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of your country of residence to the extent required by mandatory consumer protection law, and otherwise by the laws of the United States. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts competent under applicable law.
